Billeting Information
Travel Vouchers and Housing Costs: Students must settle their housing bill every 30 days. Students will submit a travel voucher every 30 days for reimbursement of expenses. Housing for each 30-day period must be paid in full before students will be able to file and receive money for lodging and meals. Students will be provided the opportunity to receive a travel advance upon arrival to Fort Jackson. Each student's housing bill must be settled in full prior to departure from Fort Jackson.
Lodging Facilities: You will be billeted in on post lodging facilities unless there is not space available during your course. You may be housed at one of the following facilities: Dozier Hall, Kennedy Hall, or Palmetto Lodge. The class will be assigned to a lodging facility based upon you class therefore no personal requests will be granted. The following is a brief description of the facilities on post.
- Dozier Hall: The rooms in this building have one double bed, dresser, closet, bathroom, and kitchenette. The kitchenette has a range, oven, microwave, toaster, sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, and basic cooking utensils. Each room contains a love seat, coffee table, desk and chair, chair and stool, breakfast bar and two stools, iron and ironing board, television, and phone with voice mail.
- Kennedy Hall: The rooms in this location have one double bed, a private bath and a kitchenette which is shared with one adjacent room. Each room contains a table with two chairs, a desk and chair, two closets, refrigerator, coffeepot, microwave, telephone and television. You may not bring a toaster oven, hot plate, candles or anything else with an open flame into to Kennedy Hall. A continental breakfast is provided in Kennedy Hall each morning.
- Palmetto Lodge: The rooms in this location have two double beds and a fold out couch and a private bath and full kitchen which has a range, microwave, toaster, sink, refrigerator, dishwasher, and basic cooking utensils. Each room contains a desk and chair. A continental breakfast is provided in the Palmetto Lodge each morning.
Common Services: All lodging provides basic cable. They also provide maid service seven days a week. You will receive an allowance that will cover your cost of lodging and a portion of your food expenses.
Students are not authorized to be accompanied by spouse or other family member(s) while in a TDY status. Guests are permitted in lodging facilities on a temporary basis (while visiting) only for an additional $5.00 per night.
Residents of Columbia and Near-by Localities: Students who are residents of Columbia and nearby towns and cities within a reasonable commuting distance to Fort Jackson will not be entitled to a travel allowance and per diem payments. Soldiers in this category are usually not required to live on post and can commute to Fort Jackson daily.
